osCommerce

osCommerce is an open source software package that is free to use. The drawback to this solution is that it lacks really good integration to other services that you might want to use to make your client's experience of your web site seamless. While the software package itself is an excellent tool (a few of our clients use it) it requires more time to set up and implement the features.

It is not ideal for most new coaches, even though the software package is free and appealing to coaches starting out, it requires a good working knowledge of .php and MySql. Then because the software is not "point and click" type upkeep, it requires more time to add new products to the cart and connect it to your site.

With that said, it is a powerful product that can be used to add more functionality to the shopping cart experience and can integrate with other software that runs with .php and MySql. This added functionality makes it appealing to a developer or someone looking to create a whiz-bang back-end.

If you decide on this E-Commerce package, the software is free but it will require more development time to set up and integrate into your systems. Additionally, it requires certain web hosting platforms. It does work on our recommended hosting platform (DreamHost).
